You've Got Questions, We've Got Answers

Yes. You bet! Despite the game being called "Laser Tag" there are actually NO LASERS. Playing laser tag is perfectly safe. And it's thrilling & fun! Better still, because there are no paintball pellets or gel blaster ammo, players do not need protective wear like goggles. Instead, the equipment emits an infrared beam, just like your TV remote. The beam is invisible and completely eye-safe.
A: Can Laser Tag actually hurt you? Nope. Laser Tag games are safe. The beam is just light. Invisible light, but light none-the-less. The type of light is infrared. Similar to the beam you use to change the channel with a TV remote.

General Questions

We have a contactless delivery policy in place. This means wherever possible there should be no direct contact between drivers and customers.

Our delivery drivers have been briefed as follows: Drivers will knock or ring your doorbell, and wait till you open it. Then, once they see you they can leave the box with you.

We are still required to ask and confirm the recipient’s name.

Drivers are no longer need to get your signature as proof of delivery. Please note we do not have an "authority to leave" policy. So someone does need to be at your address for both delivery & collection.

Please note that we cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes. (NOTE: While Startrack does their best to deliver all of our packs door to door there are some regional and rural areas where your order may be delivered directly to the post office. This is most likely for delivery addresses that regularly collect mail from their local post office or have tricky access to their property. In these instances you will get a card to notify you that you've a delivery for collection and you will also receive an email update from Startrack letting you know as well.)

More Covid Info:
All drivers are asked to thoroughly wash and sanitise hands at the start and end of every shift. As well as sanitising hands in between deliveries and drop-offs.

Behind the scenes, the Laser Tag in a Box team follow our strict COVID19 health & safety policies, which include:
  • Cleaning of the equipment (we spray the equipment with a special Sanitiser that's 80% Ethanol, then wipe them down)
  • Laundering the headwraps
  • Washing and sanitising hands when entering and leaving our offices, before and after warehouse pickups and customer deliveries
  • Staying at home if they feel unwell or have been in contact with any known cases of Covid-19

We are delivering!

Rest assured we will go the extra mile to get your order delivered.

So long as it is safe to do so for our team or the Startrack courier drivers and for you, (and of course allowed by Government regulations) we will deliver your order.

Your safety is our priority so we have more info on our Safety Page (link in the footer).

The more information you can give us about the delivery location, the smoother the delivery process.

Business Address: Please provide the name of the business and whether your boxes should be delivered to reception, a loading dock or building concierge.

Residential Address: Please ensure that our drivers will be able to gain access to the property. If the address is within a secure building please ensure that the recipient will be home on the day of delivery.

School Address: If we are not delivering to the main School Office please give us super detailed instructions as to where you are located on campus.

Sure. The laser taggers are weather resistant. Our laser tag gear is built tough. They are "weather-resistant". So you can play in the rain. When they are not being used we recommend keeping out of the rain & switching them off to save the battery. The laser tag system, however, is not waterproof. This means that while you can play in the rain, they cannot be submerged in water.

Our laser tag equipment is suitable for school-age kids and up. In other words, from prep (5 years old & older) to adults. Laser tag is suitable for the young, and the young-at-heart.

Nope. With our laser tag system there are no vests. As you can imagine, people are all different shapes and sizes. So we dumped the traditional laser tag vest. Instead, some of our laser tag models have sensors on just the barrel and some models have sensors on the barrel & on a soft headband that goes on the player's head.

No. Laser Tag rents you the laser tag set so you can run the party at your place. If you wish to get a quote to have one of our staff come and run the event for you, please calls us on PH 1800 266 587.

Yes. We are here to help you have a wonderful party. Our office is open Monday - Friday 9 am to 5 pm (Queensland time) except on Public Holidays. During these times please call us on PH 1800 266 587. If outside these times, we have an after-hours emergency mobile number.

Some of our clients have played laser tag in public parks after receiving permission from their local Council. However, we believe if you want a private party then the most fun can be had in your own backyard.

Impressed Other Parents

Seamus just turned 10. The boys had an absolute ball. They all thought it was the best party they had ever been to. Even the other parents were impressed! The level of customer service was outstanding, right from the very first phone call. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was explained to me very clearly. The staff willingly changed my pick up when I was delayed and then the demonstration was done enthusiastically and patiently. They even put the boxes in the car! Best customer service in ages! Keep up the great work! Thanks again!

Equipment Questions

What is a Phaser/Tagger?

A "Phaser" or "Tagger" is a laser tag toy. Our phasers have voice/sound effects and SFX feedback and cool a muzzle flash. This equipment is used to play fun games.

How do the Phasers work?

The phasers have 3 sensors - 2 on the headband (front & back) and 1 on the toy's barrel. The phasers work using infrared (like your TV remote) and emit a signal to the other player's equipment. When a gamer is tagged the phaser makes a sound to let you know that you've got the other guy, and when you've been tagged.

How long do the batteries last?

The batteries last and last, we estimate 16 hours of game time. But we also include a battery charger.

Damages/Costs of Replacements?

The good news is that this gear is pretty robust. But if something is broken, as per your terms and conditions you will be charged for what was damaged or lost. You can find a summary of these prices, click here.

Do the Toys shoot Lasers?

No. Our equipment does not shoot lasers, rather they work using infrared (just like a TV remote). The beam itself is invisible and harmless. For more info on safety, click here.

How do I know when I've been tagged?

When you are tagged your phaser will make a sound effect. When you are first tagged the SFX is "You're Tagged". When you lose your last health point you will hear "You're Deactivated".

How do I know when I've tagged someone?

When you tag someone on the opposition's team your phaser will say "tagged" or "de-activated".

How Heavy is the Equipment?

The weight varies depending on which type of phaser you hire. Our lightest phaser is our fun tagger called the "Blaster". Next is the little party tagger called the "Basic Cobra". These models are made from polycarbonate and weigh from 1.8kg (4 lbs). This model is perfect for youngsters.

The next model, and our most popular, is the awesome tagger called the "Black Cobra". This model comes with an integrated red dot scope. This weighs around 2kg (4 lbs).

Finally, there is the Scorpion. This one is usually rented to teens & adults. It is made from metal and weighs 2.2kg (5lbs).

How do I inflate the Inflatable Barricades?

Included in your inflatable hire pack is an electric air blower. Each inflatable only takes a few minutes to inflate.

Heaps Better Than Expected

I could not believe how easy it was to order and receive the game everything was very efficient & we even received the pack a day before we were expecting it the phasers were heaps better than what we were expecting.

When can we expect our delivery?

Deliveries usually occur between 9 am and 5 pm two business days prior to your event date. We use Star Track, but they cannot give an exact time. If you have arranged for us to courier the boxes to you, we aim to deliver a few business days prior to your event (that way we have a day or two as a backup before your event date). Because the "show must go on!". We have also booked your boxes to be collected the next working day after your event. Remember, you MUST be at the address you give us to sign for the delivery or collection, usually between 9 am and 5 pm. Alternatively, we can organise a special arrangement where you can collect or return the boxes to your local Star Track depot. (If you are interested in this option, please let us know and we can let you know how to go about this.)

Do I have to be home for the courier delivery & collection?

Yes. When delivering and collecting the boxes through a courier, there needs to be someone at home to sign for the goods. We cannot leave them unattended. If you are not going to be home on your delivery/collection dates, please provide us with an alternative address, such as business premises. If you wish to ship somewhere other than your address, please advise us BEFORE your equipment is dispatched. We cannot change the delivery address after the shipment has left our shop.

If you are collecting your laser tag hire yourself from our Brisbane shop (in Shailer Park, Logan), please note that a standard set of 8 laser taggers actually come in two boxes.

Please note each box is 40cm x 45cm x 50m and weighs from around 12kgs each.

The 8 pack can easily fit on the back seat of a small sedan, car like a Toyota Corolla or a Hyundai i30. Or in the boot of a 4WD.

If you are ordering a larger pack, make sure there is room in the back seats just in case!

We work with Startrack to deliver boxes all over Australia. Startrack is owned by Auspost. So while they do their best to deliver all of our boxes door to door, there are some regional and rural areas where orders may be delivered directly to the post office.

This is most likely for delivery addresses that regularly collect mail from their local post office or have tricky access to their property.

In this case, you'll get a card to notify you that you've a delivery for collection. You will also receive an email update from Startrack letting you know.

Techie Questions

What's behind this laser tag equipment?

This brand of laser tag equipment is a fine balance between innovative live gaming technology and practical experience. We believe we've got the most robust, most flexible commercial outdoor laser tag equipment in the world today. The laser tag equipment is made by Battlefield Sports. The phaser is turned on with a key. After a few seconds, the phaser will say "game start".

To play put on your bandanna on your head, tying it at the back. We use the colour of the bandanna to tell teams apart. Next, put the headband over the bandanna with the twirly sensor cable to the back so it does not go in front of your eyes. The cable goes under your arm so it is out of the way during play.

The large tube at the front of the phaser is where the infrared light that triggers tags comes from. It is important during gameplay that this tube is kept clear of cover. You will need to aim. It is very important to turn the phasers off with the key whenever they are not in use. This will save a lot of battery power and means more playtime for everyone.

The laser taggers are weather-resistant; you can play in showers or light rain. However, play should be postponed during very heavy rain or storms with the phasers stored under cover and switched off.

What's on the Display?

Each Laser Tagger has a display. The display gives you some useful info during the game.

LINE 1: shows the current hit points (HP5/5) this is the number of times a player can be tagged before they are deactivated. The digits before the slash are your current hit points and the digits after the slash are the maximum hit points. Players are restored to maximum hit points when they receive a reactivation or start a new game.

Following the HP, listed is A50/50. Players have a mag of 50 ammo they can use before they need to reload. Reloading happens automatically, though it does take a few seconds.

LINE 2: Will say "cobra" then R UL. R UL means unlimited reloads.

LINE 3: Has some real-time stats. T = the number of times you've tagged someone, that did not cause deactivation. D = the number of times you've deactivated someone on the other team. S is for the number of times this phaser has been reactivated during the current game. 1X stands for no team. Your kit will come with the team set. R = Red, B = Blue.

LINE 4: This shows the current status i.e. ready.  Next is the mode of operation i.e. FA means rapid fire or full auto. Finally, if it is a timed game, it will should the amount of time left in the game.

What are the standard Software settings?

The phasers come pre-set with standard software settings to make your event simple to run. Our standard Laser tag software settings are a set of defaults suitable for family-friendly games.

Half of your hire phasers will be set to the red team and half will be set to the blue team.

The red team cannot tag other players on the red team. Likewise blue cannot tag blue. Blue can only tag red. And red and only tag blue.

All phasers will be configured to easy mode and medium range.

Phasers also come set into hire mode. In hire mode, if the unit is turned on with a key, it boots straight to a "ready" state bypassing all the complex menus.
