#7 Reasons for Laser Tag At Your School Event

#7 Reasons to Book a Laser Tag Hire For Your School Event

Are you looking for a fun school event that offers loads of fun with less stress? Keep the whole class engaged with a Laser Tag in a Box rental.

Here’s why a do-it-yourself laser tag hire is a great choice when planning a group activity for your classroom, school rewards day, or even a teachers’ end-of-year celebration.

Playing Laser Tag fosters “soft skills” such as communication (speaking & listening), teamwork, and strategy. The click-n-go generation is tech-savvy, they want activities that relate to them and their experiences.

Most students love video games, so a live-action version will spark their interest. Even students who don’t play video games love a laser tag incursion.

Here are seven reasons why Laser Tag should be your go-to incursion!

TOP #7 Reason to Play Laser Tag at School Camp

Reason #1: Be the Best They Can Be!

Learning and growing is all about pursuing a student’s potential and becoming the best a student can be.

As educators, it’s about providing the kind of environment and space for that learning to happen.

To find a way to bring out a student’s talents, to let them shine and discover their potential. Students often have inner talents that flourish in spaces outside of the classroom.

But the challenge of an incursion or school camp activity is finding one that offers that chance to as many students as possible.

That’s where Laser Tag comes in.

Because Laser Tag is a multifaceted activity there are countless opportunities for students to engage, participate, and most importantly - grow!

Reason #2: Develop Leadership Ability

Our brand of Laser Tag is a team-based activity. This means students work and win as a team. Such a setup promotes constructive competition. Because they are a team, students are encouraged to work together and organise themselves, to achieve success.

Players often find themselves in small groups, allowing students who may not normally “take charge” the opportunity to share ideas and plans.

Reason #3: Build Resilience

Laser Tag allows students to experience both success and failure, building up their resilience. This activity encourages students to test their athletic abilities by bringing them into action. All fitness levels can participate and succeed.

Because it’s a competitive game, Laser Tag is all about little successes and failures. But no failure is insurmountable. For example, if their first tactic doesn't work and they are tagged out, then they return to their base for a respawn and try again!

Playing a non-linear game like laser tag can help promote dexterity and endurance. Whether you are playing in a forest or inside a school hall, this activity promotes hand-eye coordination.

Laser Tag has many physical benefits. Kids can improve their hand-eye coordination and balance.

Laser Tag also improves stamina. Carrying a tagger while walking offers light cardio exercise, without being too strenuous. Players can go at their own pace. So this incursion activity suits a wide range of people with varying physical abilities and ages.

"We want to create easy-to-run games for Teachers and Educators, that get the students engaged and off their screens. At least for a while!" said Nicole Lander, Chief Fun Officer.

"While laser tag is physical because it has a story embedded into the game, the kids don't feel like participating is a chore. Rather they are there to have some fun!" she said.

Laser Tag engages students because it makes them a hero of their own stories.

Every tag they make is a small victory. And the best part about having two teams is that half the students win half the time!

Reason #4: Learn Problem-Solving

Laser Tag is all about working as a team to achieve victory. And that requires planning, a bit of strategy, and problem-solving skills.

The great thing about Laser Tag games is that they seem very simple but the games come with innate challenges. The complexity comes with the interaction between players. Every student is trying out their plan - and will inevitably find themselves challenged by the other players.

It’s all about using different skills:

  • The students can listen to the environment and use that to spot an opponent.
  • They can try and find different places to hide, while also keeping space to tag the other team.
  • They can form into small groups to try out different options.
For example, in the game “Capture and Hold” players must control a central box for the longest amount of time. Whichever team holds the box the longest - wins! This game has plenty of ways to engage.

For example, players can choose to focus on the box itself, aiming to keep control of the box for their team. But another student might choose to explore around the side, find a hiding spot, and tag any players that are trying that exact plan!

Therefore, the players are constantly asked to change their plans and problem-solve.

Reason #5: Create Camaraderie

Laser Tag helps create memories, builds friendships, and promotes a sense of community. The participants might not be actively aware of it, but the team-based mechanic of the game means they’ll end up working together.

This improves their group cohesion.

Laser Tag games can be played indoors or outdoors, around trees or inflatables. So, it is a great offline school activity.

Group activities, like laser tag, offer an opportunity for students to bond with each other.

Because the games are mission-based, the team needs to work together to win (or lose) as a group.

Away from their smartphones, the students are divided into two teams (you can also split them into more teams based on classes or houses, having them play a small “round-robin”).

Each team needs to work together and communicate with one another to achieve its objective.

Naturally, the kids get into one-on-one or one-to-many communications.

In this new environment, we often see kids that often don’t talk in a classroom setting, come alive - engaging and interacting with their peers. This shared, non-school-related experience can be a great conversation starter! And one that builds confidence and camaraderie.

Some laser tag games can ease tension and boost camaraderie among the school cohort.

Across a series of games, the teams can work together to achieve the winning objective.

Reason #6: Fuel Independence

Every student plays a part in the victory.

Even without an overall plan, each student must take decision-making into their own hands!

While each player is independent, teamwork is still important.

The games are inherently meaningful to them. Because kids love to play (and most love to play video games!). And they love to play when they are out & active & experience something new.

Creating a school event with a story-driven live-action role-play, using a laser tag rental, is a great choice.

Reason #7: Great for Really Big Groups

The games can be organized into a round-robin format so students can combine laser tag with other activities. Or, better still, the students can play in very large groups.

Laser Tag in a Box has been rented to school camps and incursions so 50 or even 100 students can play at once.
