Susan David, founder of the Harvard/McLean Institute of Coaching, says burnout, rather than simple run-of-the-mill stress, can cause you to "feel utterly depleted."

Experts say it is important to muster resources to improve the situation for your staff.

One way to do this is to celebrate your team's accomplishments.

Harvard conducted a case study on Digital Surgeons, a savvy business from Connecticut, to explore how they celebrated a hectic and high-growth quarter.

How? By playing laser tag on a Friday afternoon, of course!

Cisco Systems, Google, and McDonald Restaurants are just a few of the Fortune 500 companies that have benefited from a live-action gaming Team Building experience.

Not to mention people from big brand name companies such as Dulux, APPT, Telstra, Subway, Masterfoods, Microsoft, KFC, Kawasaki, and Harvey Norman.

We've helped teams from media and information technology organizations such as Network Ten TV, CeaNet, and RSA Security.

We've also worked with Church groups, College teams, schools and clubs, and many more.

Live-action gaming is best for:

  • Relationship and trust-building among top management of a newly merged company.
  • Building a common orientation among teams on a corporate sales force to improve communication and problem solving and better support personal initiative and risk-taking.
  • Improving communication and problem-solving between different workgroups, such as sales and technical staff or, indeed, any divisional staff that might not normally interact.
  • Working together on tasks that are unfamiliar and which require a high degree of interdependence develops trust. Individuals can focus on personal issues, interpersonal dynamics, and team functioning while supported by skilled facilitators. To rely on others in ways that are not customary for individuals in a normal working environment generates new communication channels often beyond anything previously experienced by colleagues in the workplace.

Fun Team Building Activities for Very Large Groups

Finding an activity that suits very large groups and people of differing skill and fitness levels can be challenging.

Laser Tag is the answer.

The rules of engagement in the workplace are changing.

As longer work hours, high-stress environments, and seemingly endless workload demands become more of a rule than an exception, the need to work as a team is more important than ever.

Laser Tag is an adventure-based training program that provides a practical approach to team building. Teams that experience togetherness work better.

A shared experience where the team has overcome a challenge together and achieved their mission objectives together. Those teams are more productive.

It is an adventure that all team members can participate in. Because the game rewards team effort, all contributions are valuable. It is great for team building & development, leadership development, and cultural and strategic change.

Live-action gaming offers a unique team-building process that enables even novice team leaders to visualize their group's purpose, analyze their perspective, and foster trust among team members.

"As organizations strive to become more efficient, effective teamwork is vital," said Nicole Lander from Battlefield Sports.

"Employees need practical, actionable processes that will guide them through their business contributions from start to finish. It provides an activity to build a shared experience, a togetherness, and it lays out the foundational principles that lead to successful teams," said Nicole.

Building Team Togetherness

The approach to team building assists people in a variety of ways, such as:

  • Relationship & trust building among top management of a newly merged company.
  • Building a common orientation among teams on a corporate sales force to improve communication & problem solving, & better support personal initiative & risk-taking.
  • Improving communication & problem solving between, e.g., kitchen & wait for staff in a successful restaurant or sales & technical staff, or indeed any divisional staff that might not normally interact.
The games allow participants to work together on unfamiliar tasks that require a high degree of interdependence, thereby developing trust. Individuals can focus on personal issues, interpersonal dynamics, and team functioning while supported by skilled facilitators.

Relying on others in ways that are not customary for individuals in a normal working environment generates new communication channels, often beyond anything previously experienced by colleagues in the workplace.

It helps participants identify and implement the processes, skills, and tools that lead to successful teams.

This program is ideal for team managers, team members, and others who work on teams encompassing complex tasks. It takes an in-depth look at managing complex teams with additional planning tools.

Private Staffed Event at Tamborine Mountain Glades

Located in the picturesque Scenic Rim, Tamborine Mountain Glades offers professional "glamping" accommodation and a large conference space for your next team-building event. Alternatively, you can book just the Laser Tag with us and bring your team out for a day trip.

A typical team bonding session lasts for 2 hours. We split your group into two teams to face off against one another (or you can request the group to be divided into three or four teams).

We have a wide variety of missions to play. But by far, the most popular game for corporate groups is called "Heist."

Each team is given a Vault where they store their virtual cash. The goal of the mission is to have the most $$$ at the end of the mission.

Now that's motivational!

There are three ways to collect cash during the game:

  • grab it from the Money Drop (by shooting the box)
  • steal it from a player you kill
  • rob the other team's loot.

This mission is fabulous because it offers a range of roles. While rushing into the Money Drop is great, it doesn't guarantee victory.

Other players will want to lay down "cover fire," i.e., provide support to the main runner.

You'll also want some defenders on your base, just in case the other team attempts a raid!

Leadership, communication, and teamwork are all important factors in achieving victory in the "Heist" mission.

Heist Game

We also offer more advanced scenario mission for the full team building experience. This is ideal for a smaller group (between ten and twenty players).

"VIP Escort" is all about working together to get a key player (usually the boss) to a designated location on the field. But escorters beware! There is a team of ambushers lying in wait and a pursuit party following from behind.

"Rush" is about capturing a series of objectives in order. The attackers must work together to drive back the defenders and take control of each position. The mission is played twice to see which team could capture all three objectives the fastest!

Play Laser Tag At Your Place

Alternatively, we can come to you! If you've got a complex of buildings to act as a maze or a space with plenty of trees, we can run the event at your place!

Book Laser Tag to Boost Your Team's Engagement

Team leadership, however, is not the only element that the games focus on. Rather, their live-action role-play scenarios give every team member a role to play.

Live-action gaming has operated outdoor team-oriented scenarios for numerous high-profile corporate groups since 1999.

During the combat games, each participant has a contribution to make. Interacting with actors, each encounter is challenging. The idea is to demonstrate in a high-pressure environment the need for the team to pull together and work with each other.

With the confidence and courage fostered throughout, leaders will gain experience that will enable them to manage with grace under fire.
